Introduction
If you’re not familiar with software updates or are unsure if you need this program, the Why You Should Update section explains updates and why you should use Insider Updates.
Security
Insider Updates automatically generates a unique UserID and Password for logging into Insider Updates servers. This is the only information that is ever sent from your computer. For your protection and privacy, Insider Updates does not transmit any information about your hardware or software.
Virus Protection
Every updater is checked by Insider Software before it is made available for distribution. We use both Symantec AntiVirus for Macintosh (SAM) and DataWatch’s Virex using the most current virus definitions.
Configuration and Information
Insider Updates provides options to download Beta software, automatically unstuff files, and automatically launch on schedule. These three options are covered in Configuring Insider Updates. For more information on the updating process and using the Downloads window to select the updaters you receive, read How Insider Updates Works. For tips, answers to common questions, and trouble-shooting help, read Inside Insider Updates.
Installing the Updaters
The actual updaters you receive may be replacement files, installation programs, updater programs, or floppy disk images. The Installing Updaters section helps you deal with the different formats and install your new updaters.
Registering
To enable updating all your Applications, Control Panels, Extensions, and Utilities, you need to register your copy of Insider Updates. This section includes pricing and instructions to unlock your copy.
